Week of 2/20

Dearest welcome, humble reader. Today, I will be discussing my progress in regards to the dots and boxes game.

Our group split into two research groups-- one with me, Robert, and Aston, and the other with Robert, Edmond, and Puja. The other group focused on building a working game using Python while our group focused on researching stuff about reinforcement learning. Initially, we didn't really have that much of a direction in what to research, but after a while, some hope was found. From my research, I learned that reinforcement learning is pretty applicable to the implementation of a dots and boxes game made with certain algorithms. However, the biggest question is what algorithm to use and how to implement it. I did some preliminary research and I stumbled on q-learning. Q-learning is a pretty interesting algorithm-- and although it's not incredibly practical for us to use it for our game, I think that the algorithm and its fundamental workings are pretty worth. Check it out!

My Actual Video. I hope this actually uploaded with audio...

I'm also super angry right now. I work so hard to record my videos on my iPad but every time I try to upload it to YouTube they always take my audio away. I've airdropped it to my laptop (which retains the audio), but as soon as I try to put it on Google Drive or Youtube, the audio seems to get shazam'ed away. This is extraordinarily frustrating because I have no idea how to even disseminate the video I worked so hard on. Gmail won't let me email the video as an attachment because it's "too big". Urgh. I'll have to figure something out because my grades are literally going to tank because of this.
Seriously! What the heck!

This President's day weekend, I moved houses. Well, to be more accurate, we moved all of our stuff out yesterday and we're now in the process of unpacking everything after the downsizing and planning how to fit a house's worth of stuff in a small apartment. The tiny 2-bedroom apartment literally looks like a junkyard with mattresses and furniture and boxes piled on top of each other. Imagine one of those houses from extreme hoarders shows and that's what our new apartment looks like. I can't access most of my stuff (and I'm pretty much just limited to two different outfits to mix up and wear) and I certainly don't have internet access. I've been living in my aunt's place in the meantime, but the limited resources have seriously taken a toll on the effectiveness of my study. I'll treat it like a learning experience-- but with my lab report due in a few days and a bunch of assignments I have to use the textbooks and other stuff with, it's been tough. I've also gotten an average of around four hours of sleep for the past week and it's been a challenge for me to even stay conscious in class. It's raining and the only pair of shoes I have access to (and even find) is a brand new pair of white converse. I spent 60 of my own blood, sweat, and tears on that bad boy. I've just worn it for less than a week and if this rain is what brings it to its demise, I will literally rip my eyelashes off. I also really hate moving-- I've been moving houses once a year at this point for the past five years. On the bright side, I've gotten really good at stuffing everything in boxes and deconstructing my furniture in an afternoon. I'll try to manage. (first world problems?)

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is literally what that place looks like. Absolutely vile. I need a Marie Kondo in my life.

I've recently been really stressed out with everything. College applications are coming around the corner, and I'm extremely nervous about the admissions process and essay writing. While there are lots of resources available for me to take advantage of, I just don't have time to even be able to access them. I have to go home as soon as school ends to help unpack and move furniture around and take care of my grandpa. I literally don't have time for that kinda stuff. I really wish I had a college counselor or even one of those super bougie institutions to help me. Actually, on a second thought, I don't. I think they just scam you of your money (cough cough Elite) and everything just feels so... artificial and pre-packaged, if you know what I mean. I hope everything will go well though. Wish me luck!

Just ahead? More like just ahead one a two land road with an eight-car pileup accident with a few strewn semis toppled across the freeway. Gross.
